John Odom is a native of Scotland County (Wagram, NC) where his father served for 28 years as the chief deputy sheriff. His mother was a Democrat legislator in the North Carolina General Assembly.
John is married to Hoke County native Linda Calligan. The Odom’s reside in Raleigh. They have two children and two grandchildren. He is a widely respected small business owner and leader with over 34 years experience in running successful business enterprises. He currently owns three Meineke Muffler franchises in the Raleigh area. Odom also serves as executive director of the Greater Raleigh Merchants Association, which he has led for the past 15 years. |  |

Political Career
In 1993, Odom was first elected to the Raleigh City Council in District B, which covers the northeastern part of the city.
Odom served five terms, including stints as deputy mayor and mayor pro-tem. In those positions, he was known for having an easygoing manner and willingness to work with other members of the City Council.
